The Energy Step Code is a performance-based compliance path in the BC Building Code that is currently optional. The Provincial Government has signalled that by 2022, Step 3 will be the minimum code requirement for all new Part 9 buildings across BC. The Energy Step Code establishes a set of metrics that the builder demonstrates through energy modelling and air tightness testing conducted by an energy advisor.
